From the Principal

Széchenyi Nemzetközi Gimnázium was founded on a single conviction: that a rigorous Hungarian gimnázium education, delivered in Hungarian and English, can hold its own against any international curriculum in the world.

Fifteen years and four campuses later, we continue to test that conviction every day — in the quality of teaching, in the standards we set for ourselves, and in the universities to which our graduates are admitted.

Families considering our school will find an unusually demanding academic programme, small class sizes, and a pastoral structure that knows every student by name. If that is the kind of school you are looking for, we would be glad to meet.

In their words

From our community.

“I arrived in Budapest with no Hungarian at all. Three years in the HLI programme later, I sat the Érettségi in Hungarian and now study law in Vienna. I still dream in Hungarian sometimes.”

Farah Al-Qassim · Class of 2023, now reading Law at Universität Wien

“What I value most is that small class sizes are not a marketing line here. They are the reason my son was spotted for competition mathematics in Year 9 and trained by a teacher who had the time to do it properly.”

Erzsébet M. · parent, Debrecen campus

“Teaching the Érettségi to students from 31 nationalities is demanding and rewarding in ways that larger schools cannot match. You know every student’s story, and the story behind it.”

Bálint Farkas · Head of Mathematics, joined 2014
